1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Covenant Games ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

Covenant Games is a free, browser-based platform for playing multiplayer and single-player card games online. The Service includes game rooms, public game lobbies, user accounts, social features (friends, invitations), and AI opponents. No download or installation is required.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.

4. User Accounts

  • Account creation is optional. You may play as a guest without registering.
  • Accounts are created through third-party OAuth providers (Google, GitHub). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your third-party accounts.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account information current.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users through in-game chat or other features.
  • Use offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate display names.
  • Attempt to exploit bugs, vulnerabilities, or use automated tools (bots, scripts) to gain an unfair advantage.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service.
  • Impersonate another person or entity.
  • Attempt to access another user's account without authorization.
  • Use the Service to transmit spam, malware, or other harmful content through the chat system.

6. In-Game Chat

The Service provides an in-game chat feature. All chat messages are stored temporarily for the duration of the game session. You are responsible for the content of your messages. We reserve the right to moderate, filter, or remove content that violates these Terms.

7. Intellectual Property

  • The Service, including its design, code, graphics, and game mechanics, is the property of Covenant Games and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
  • Certain card games offered on the platform (e.g., UNO, Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon TCG, Cards Against Humanity) are trademarks of their respective owners. Our simplified implementations are fan-made tributes and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the trademark holders.
  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our written consent.

8. Game Rules and Fair Play

  • Games are governed by their respective rules as displayed in the "How to Play" section of each game.
  • Hosts may customize certain game rules within the options provided.
  • Intentional disconnection to avoid losing ("rage-quitting") may result in automatic forfeiture and stat penalties.
  • AI players are provided for convenience and are identified with "(AI)" in their names.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it to understand how we collect and use your information.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
  • Game data or statistics will be preserved indefinitely.
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Covenant Games shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Covenant Games and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the appropriate courts.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
